The Woman Inside Me

For years, I valued only the part of me that managed, pushed and took responsibility. Then I fell in love with another part of myself.

Two and a half years ago, I fell in love with the woman inside me.

Before that, I valued only the qualities I thought of as “masculine”: my ability to push forward, manage any process, take responsibility and carry it, and finish whatever I started.

Sensuality, ease and harmony had no place in my vocabulary. “Being in the flow” sounded like a mocking description of people who refused to grow up.

Today, I value and respect my masculine qualities. I’m proud of them, and I have also learned how to move into another state.

This state feels relaxed and embodied, purring and full of goosebumps, tender, giving, loving and intuitive. Life begins to feel like a light dance, a flirtation with the world, with pleasure running through whatever I do.

It fills me. It feels orgasmic, and it draws people towards me like a magnet. I become a kind of Wi-Fi signal: people feel this state and pick it up simply by being near me.

This is my feminine.

Each side needs the other. The masculine and feminine qualities reveal, support and strengthen one another.

Tantra sometimes describes the balance like this: a woman carries 51% feminine and 49% masculine qualities, while a man carries 51% masculine and 49% feminine qualities.

When one polarity takes over, we either work constantly and lose the pleasure in it, or stay so completely in the moment that directing our lives and moving towards our goals becomes difficult.

I keep exploring how these qualities meet inside us, and how we can feel both more deeply.
