What Happens at Temple Nights?

A Temple can become an adult playground for conscious sexuality, provided the space, agreements and people are carefully prepared.

From What Happens at Temple Nights?

Temples can feel extraordinary when a skilled facilitator holds the space and the people entering it have been carefully prepared.

I attended Temples in Bali where participants needed significant experience with Tantra. I also joined the facilitation team for one of them, led a cacao ceremony and guided a Tantric practice in English.

Temples also take place at the end of an intense day at a Tantra festival. Everything we explored in workshops can move into the body there. We try new roles, play, and give space to our energy, aliveness, sexuality and Kundalini.

People practise with one another through active mutual consent and shared agreements. At the Temples I attended, the dress code invited sexy clothing while genital touch stayed outside the space.

Tantra offers an astonishing amount to explore through the rest of the body.

A Temple can become an adult playground for sexuality, hidden parts of ourselves and different inner characters, all held inside a conscious Tantric space.

The word comes from “temple”: a place of attention and exploration. We can notice how easily we connect with others, what stops us, where our limits are and how we communicate them. Sexual energy often leads the experience, while the structure and agreements give it a particular quality.

Different ways into a Temple

Some Temples welcome beginners. These usually include more guided practice around desire, choice and communication, with a softer pace.

Others happen during festivals and retreats. This feels especially organic to me: we learn through workshops during the day and meet again in the evening to practise.

Some Temples grow inside established communities and work by invitation. Joining local Tantric events, meeting the community and asking about its Temples can become the way in.

Each format depends on the facilitator, the agreements and the people in the room. Those details shape the experience as much as the name does.
